Little Monsters for Baby and Me

This is the story behind the creation of developmental hand puppets designed to help an older sibling bond with a new baby in the house.

These puppets are meant to help a baby develop between the ages of 0 and 3 months while the older child puts on a puppet show.  They mainly use black and white patterned fabrics to help with eye development.

These Puppets help babies between 3 and 6 months develop.  They use mirrors, rattles, and teething devices.  The purple puppet has a removable rattle for hand coordination.

These puppets have more advanced functions for babies between 6 and 9 months.  They are also able to help the older child gain a sense of responsibility because they are able to teach the baby how to use each puppet.

Each puppet has a name and a story

Our mirror faced friend is named Roberto:

I'm a fuzzy mirror monster.  I come from planet Sloggem. When I moved to planet Gagaloo I helped the orphan monsters that lived near the zoo.  I work in the Broccoli Forest and chop down trees to give to the local florist.

The final playtest was a success with the children embracing the concept including the older sibling showing her sister each puppet and the younger child even teething on one of them
